Question 1

How much gravel will I need?

Accepted Answer

Project size and planned depth determine the gravel amount. A general estimate: one ton covers approximately 100 square feet when spread 2-inch deep. For a driveway, we typically suggest 4 to 6 inches. For a closer estimate, try the free gravel calculator. Enter the area length, width, and depth to find the tons needed.

Question 2

What quantity can I buy?

Accepted Answer

Order a single ton for a small patio or garden walk, or multi-ton quantities for driveway and construction projects. At a depth of 2-inch, one ton of gravel provides about 100 square feet of coverage. To estimate your material needs, try the gravel calculator or phone (401) 210-4557 for help.

Question 3

What does gravel delivery involve?

Accepted Answer

Orders go to your property by dump truck. Choose an accessible driveway, yard, or other unloading spot for the driver. The truck reverses to the location, lifts its bed, and leaves the aggregate in a pile. Dump trucks provide an efficient, cost-effective way to transport bulk aggregate. A rake or shovel works for hand spreading; for bigger areas, use equipment such as a skid steer.

Question 4

Must I be there when the truck delivers?

Accepted Answer

Delivery usually does not require you to be at home. Before the delivery date, make the drop location easy to identify. Cones, flags, or stakes are commonly used to mark it. The driver may call if access is blocked or the unloading location is unclear. Give us any delivery directions or access concerns when ordering so the driver has them.

Question 5

When will delivery arrive?

Accepted Answer

Product availability and location affect delivery timing, with most orders delivered as fast as 2 business days. Metro locations and addresses near major supplier hubs can arrive sooner, while rural or remote areas may need a little more time. Your order confirmation email will include an estimated delivery window. If material is needed for a particular date, contact us before ordering to discuss your timeline.

Question 6

Which gravel should I choose for a driveway?

Accepted Answer

For a driveway, use crushed stone or crusher run, which is also called dense grade aggregate. The angular, rough surfaces compact and lock together for a stable driving surface. Common driveway sizes are 3/4-inch crushed stone and 1/2-inch crusher run. Round, smooth pea gravel can move under tires and does not compact as well. View the available choices in our product catalog.

Question 7

How do pea gravel and crushed stone differ?

Accepted Answer

Pea gravel is made up of naturally rounded, smooth stones, usually 1/4 to 1/2 inch across. It works well in paths, garden beds, dog runs, and decorative areas because it feels comfortable underfoot. Crushed stone is made by breaking larger rock and has angular edges. It compacts and interlocks, making it suitable for driveways, foundations, drainage, and structural work. Choose crushed stone where weight support and a stable surface matter. Use pea gravel for decorative areas or places with light traffic.

Question 8

Can you deliver to my address?

Accepted Answer

Service is offered throughout Rhode Island, from cities and suburbs to many rural areas. Put your drop-off address into checkout to see if delivery reaches that location. For an out-of-the-way address or a coverage question, call (401) 210-4557 and ask us to verify it.

Question 9

What happens if my gravel amount is wrong?

Accepted Answer

Material ordered in excess remains on your property, since it cannot be picked up after delivery. Leftover gravel can be used to fill low areas, line garden borders, or top up walkways. If the order does not provide enough, place another order for a second delivery. Check the gravel calculator before ordering to help prevent either situation. Ordering about 10% above the calculated quantity can allow for ground-level variation and compaction.

Question 10

Can one order include multiple products?

Accepted Answer

Orders are limited to one product type at this time. Since dump trucks carry material directly from the supplier, different products cannot be combined during transit. If a driveway base needs crushed stone and a walkway needs pea gravel, place an order for each material. Each order includes free delivery, with no added cost for multiple deliveries.

Question 11

What sets the price?

Accepted Answer

The material selected, quantity needed, and delivery address set the price. Rates can vary around Rhode Island. Prices listed on the website include free delivery.

Question 12

Which payment types are accepted?

Accepted Answer

At online checkout, you can pay by Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, or other standard credit and debit cards. The checkout uses encrypted payment processing. Online orders cannot be paid with cash, checks, or purchase orders. To talk through payment for a large commercial order, call (401) 210-4557.

Question 13

What are the refund rules?

Accepted Answer

An order can be cancelled with a full refund before it has been dispatched. Refunds generally cannot be issued after bulk material is loaded onto a delivery vehicle or dropped at your property, since aggregates cannot be returned. If the material is incorrect or there is a significant shortage, call (401) 210-4557 right away so the issue can be addressed. Full information is on the refund policy page.

Question 14

How can I estimate gravel for my project?

Accepted Answer

Measure the area's length, width, and intended depth. Multiply them to find cubic feet, then divide the result by 27 to get cubic yards. A cubic yard of gravel weighs approximately 1.4 tons; multiply cubic yards by 1.4 for the tonnage. You can also use our free gravel calculator. Enter the measurements to see the tons to order and the cost.

Question 15

What gravel sizes are offered?

Accepted Answer

Stone size refers to its diameter. Standard options include 1/4-inch (pea gravel), 1/2-inch, 3/4-inch, 1-inch, 1-1/2 inch, and 2-inch stone. Fine material such as pea gravel suits paths, patios, and decorative work. 3/4-inch crushed stone is commonly used for driveways, parking areas, and landscaping. Use larger 1-1/2 inch and 2-inch stone for drainage, erosion control, and French drains. Check our product page for the sizes and materials available for delivery in your area.
